3 Days in Málaga: The Itinerary That Actually Works
Three days in Málaga is the perfect amount of time to explore the city properly without rushing. This itinerary was designed by the AltaHomes team, who live in Málaga and know every corner of the Costa del Sol. This is not a tourist-board itinerary — it is what we would do with a friend visiting for the first time.
Day 1: Historic Centre and Culture
Morning (9:00 - 13:30)
9:00 — Breakfast at La Canasta (Plaza de la Constitución): The classic Málaga breakfast. Order the mollete with extra virgin olive oil and a café con leche. Watch the square wake up.
10:00 — Alcazaba: The 11th-century Arab fortress-palace overlooking the city. Entry: 3.50 EUR (or 5.50 EUR combined with Gibralfaro Castle). Go early to avoid queues. The views from the gardens are spectacular.
11:30 — Roman Theatre (just below the Alcazaba): Free entry. Dates from the 1st century BC.
12:00 — Museo Picasso (Palacio de Buenavista, Calle San Agustín): Málaga is Picasso's birthplace. Over 200 works. Entry: 12 EUR. Free on Sundays for the last two hours. Open 10:00-19:00.
Afternoon (14:00 - 20:00)
